I’m a huge lover of this city, having gone four times I feel as though I really know Vegas pretty well. However, people often say how could I love and know this city well? I’m only 19 years old and have previously only visited as a child or in my early teens. I clearly cannot know it very well. Yes, they are probably right to an extent, I cannot talk much for the clubbing and casino scene. Even those who can happily drink and gamble in the UK at 18, cannot gamble here until they are 21. However, by experiencing Vegas from a young age, I certainly do know a lot about all the other things it has to offer! So, for those of you of similar age to me or even younger, here is a little post all about how Vegas can be a wonderful destination for you – casinos and clubbing really aren’t everything.

Chill at the resort of your choosing
Hotels in Vegas are pretty grand, to say the least. They will always either tower into the skies, be super luxurious, have an interesting theme, or all three! This enables them to be extremely interesting and fun, because realistically, who wants to gamble and drink in the sunshine? The hotels are all suited and booted with gorgeous pool areas, gyms, spas, some even having shopping malls. So why not just spend a morning or even a day at your hotel? I stayed at the Elara by Hilton Grand Vacations, which was the perfect choice – it was a completely smoke and casino free hotel. I could go to the gym early in the morning, then relax by the pool and follow this up with some shopping. Not a bad day if you ask me. Of course, you could easily enjoy any hotel but I really recommend this one for a lack of crowds, value for money and an amazing stay.

Enjoy the various themed hotels
I’m sure you are already well aware of the various themed hotels of Las Vegas, Venetian, Paris, Luxor, Bellagio…you know. Just walking through these hotels can be a real treat. For instance, the Venetian has canals and gondolas, Paris has an Eiffel Tower you can actually climb, New York New York has a rollercoaster, Mirage a Volcano show, Mandalay Bay a huge aquarium…the list is pretty much endless. Not only do these hotels have their own little attractions, but the atmosphere on the inside is wonderful, just like lots of small Disneylands pretty much <3 Also as aforementioned, most have their own shopping malls.

The food, oh my gosh the food
You’ll never go hungry in Vegas. From fast foods to high-end gourmet restaurants to lavish buffets, the possibilities here are endless. I honestly wanted more days here to try out more food outlets and restaurants, I was awful. But, that’s a good sign, it sounds daft but eating lots of good and interesting food is fun as it is…I mean we do have to eat after all and we are built to enjoy it. I personally recommend Gordon Ramsay’s Burgr for some good American grub with a good chef’s twist, but at an affordable price. If sweet treats are what take your fancy, head to Sprinkles on the Linq promenade. Not only do the bake the best cupcakes and serve up the best ice cream, but they have a cute little quirk. If waiting in the store isn’t your thing or they’re shut – there is a little ATM outside which sells all of their magnificent cupcakes. Yes, a cupcake ATM…it doesn’t get much better than that. The buffet ‘The wicked spoon’ at the Cosmopolitan is apparently supposed to be amazing also.

Sightsee of course!
Like any destination in the world there will are many sights to see. Not only the strip, but you also have downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street to see. Although not as glitzy and wonderful as the rest of Vegas and not a place to relax and have huge amounts of fun like the strip, it’s a must see. It’s a huge window into the ‘old’ Las Vegas and also is home to the Stratosphere. A huge tower which not only provides specatacular views of the city and the desert, but is also home to a few thrill rides that send you over the edge on the tower itself. If that’s not your cup of tea, the Grand Canyon is fairly nearby. Of course if you are under 21 and not American it is very likely you won’t be able to drive there yourself, but chances are you may be travelling with drivers with hire cars or you can purchase a day tour! It’s not all about commercialism here, there is some wonderful natural sights to see too. Lake Mead and Red Rock Canyon National Park are some super-close natural sight options!

Just enjoy the atmosphere
There’s just something about the atmosphere that just has everyone around you smiling and constantly enjoying themselves, even when your activities lead you to exhaustion. Just take in the heat and grandness of Vegas and you are good to go <3

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post as always, I really recommend visiting Vegas if you can. It doesn’t have to be the focal point of a trip, but rather a stop on a road trip! That’s what I did anyway. As much as I adore this city, four days of walking here in 44c heat = nearly passing out, I had to move on to cooler territory. But compared to Britain’s pretty mediocre to boring weather, the heat and desert was enjoyable…in the short term 😉

I love Las Vegas too. Going back in a couple of weeks. The Wicked Spoon buffet is one of my favorites buffets in the city, highly recommendable! 🙂
